One ring chases medical-grade sensing, the other chases people who just want to tap and pay.
A smart ring that buzzes your finger to wake you up, then pays for your coffee an hour later. That is the pitch Circular made on Thursday when it revealed the Ring 3 series: a Pro model loaded with clinical sensing, and a Slim model that strips most of it away. Both carry an NFC chip. Both vibrate.
The Ring 3 Pro is the sensor-heavy option. It carries FDA-cleared ECG for AFib detection, blood pressure trend tracking, glucose tracking, advanced sleep analysis, and broader biometric monitoring. Circular also slimmed it down compared to the Ring 2 while pushing battery life to 12 days, up from seven. That combination matters more than it sounds. Adding sensors usually costs you size and runtime, and Circular claims it went the other direction on both.
The Slim is thinner and lighter, and it drops to the basics: sleep, heart rate, HRV, SpOâ‚‚, skin temperature, and daily activity. Battery life lands at 10 days. CEO Amaury Kosman was direct about the reasoning, saying not everyone wants every health feature, and that many buyers simply want a well-designed ring with essential wellness insights and easy contactless payments.
The haptics are the connective tissue between the two. On-finger vibration works on both models and covers silent alarms, medication reminders, vital health alerts, and guided breathing.

The timing is not accidental. The smart ring category got crowded this year, with the Oura Ring 5 and RingConn Gen 3 both landing ahead of this announcement. Circular has not said what either Ring 3 model will cost. Pricing and preorder details are coming in the following months, with availability expected in early 2027. That is a long runway to hold attention in a category where rivals are already shipping.
Circular is segmenting by intent, not price tier alone — clinical buyer versus fashion-plus-payments buyer. If you sell hardware or a subscription layered on it, watch whether the Slim actually converts people who never wanted health tracking. That is the real test. A ring positioned as jewellery with a payment chip reaches a far larger market than one positioned as a medical device.
